Are you searching for a facility for yourself or loved one?

Are you searching for a facility for yourself or a loved one? This can seem overwhelming. It is hard to even know where to start. So I wanted to make some tips and pointers if you have found yourself in this particular situation.

  1. Geographical location makes a difference. There are a few things to think about when you are looking at the location for yourself or a loved one. Where is it? Is it close to your family members who might want to visit? Is it close to activities that you or your loved one likes to do? Is the facility on the bus line so that you can leave to go on activities if you want to.

  2. What types of residents are currently at the facility? Is it mainly couples? Older? Younger? Male? Female? When you are looking for a facility you want to see what types of individuals live in that facility. Are they individuals that you would get along with? Would like to eat dinner with? You can always request a tour and to eat a meal inside the facility so that you can engage with residents and see the over all population in one setting. This is important because these are the people you will be around daily.

  3. Activities. If activities are important to you then you need to see what types of activities are done daily. Ask for an activities calendar. What activities are offered within the facility and which ones are offered outside of the facility? Is it included in the cost or extra?

  4. Budget. Your budget is probably one of the most important aspects as you start your search. Which facilities can you afford?

  5. Survey history. What has the facility been in trouble for in the past? You should always ask for the last inspection history, and complaint history. This will give you a good idea of what the facility is struggling with. If it is a nice looking facility but they have had several medication violations that can be deadly. Knowing the inner workings of the facility is just as important and what it looks like on the outside.

  6. Animals. Do they accept and allow animals. If you are a big animal lover, and want to take your pet with you this is important.

This is just a small list to give you some guidance as you search so that you don't feel so overwhelmed. Remember any facility you pick you can always choose a different one tomorrow. It is not concrete when you make that decision. So if you find you picked the wrong one, pick a different one until you get exactly what you want because you deserve it! #facility #placement #senior #searching #help #information #elder #mom #dad Adult family home near me, senior care near me, senior living options, senior services spokane, senior service Dallas, senior living options, senior homes near me, adult family home
